The head of a coalition to \u201csave\u201d Victor Harbor has blasted John Rau\u2019s decision to rezone more than 100 hectares of land around the town, calling the move outrageous.<\/h3>\n

Save Victor\u2019s Richard Zachariah says Planning Minister John Rau had acknowledged there was opposition to the move, but had refused to listen to concerns.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen a minister makes up his mind and refuses to talk to you, you\u2019ve got very little hope that\u2019s it\u2019s not going to be inevitable,\u201d Mr Zachariah told David and Will on FIVEAA Breakfast. \u201cMr Rau has done that.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s the most extraordinary piece of political outrageousness that I\u2019ve seen,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Mr Zachariah said the move \u2013 which he says will cause a shift from the town\u2019s high street to outer suburban shopping centres \u2013 will completely change \u201cthe dynamics of the town\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s happened all over Australia and now it\u2019s happening in lovely Victor Harbor,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt really saddens me. As you enter you\u2019ll think you\u2019re going into Coolangatta. It\u2019s going to be Gold Coast-y all over.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s overkill. It\u2019s not needed.\u201d<\/p>\n
