The AFP raided the office of former communications minister Stephen Conroy as well as political staffer\u2019s home as part of an investigation into leaked NBN documents.<\/p>\n
\u201cCalling the Federal Police in every time something gets leaked is dime a dozen around here,\u201d Coorey told David and Will on FIVEAA Breakfast. \u201cIt happens nearly every couple of weeks.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat makes it a story\u2026 a) it\u2019s a senior figure like Conroy, but b) it\u2019s in the middle of an election campaign.\u201d<\/p>\n
The AFP has said the timing of the raids had nothing to do with the election, and Coorey ruled out a possible plot, saying \u201calways back stupidity over cunning\u201d. <\/p>\n
\u201cHonestly, I\u2019ve been in this city a long time. I can tell you bureaucrats are just completely thick when it comes to politics,\u201d Coorey said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey just don\u2019t get it. They just do things on their own time and they have no regard \u2013 most of them \u2013 of political sensitivities and so forth.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou see it time and again, and it\u2019s only afterwards when they\u2019ve created some big bushfire that they realise, \u2018oh we didn\u2019t think about that\u2019.<\/p>\n
