\u201cThe people of South Australia are sort of poking fun at it, but it is a serious issue,\u201d Mr Marshall told David and Will on FIVEAA breakfast.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur irrigators, people that are using water for primary production in South Australia on a 36 per cent allocation rate in this state, and at the same time we\u2019re wasting water, just huge amounts every single day because our government in South Australia can\u2019t get their maintenance on the water pipes in South Australia right.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think it\u2019s a crying shame and I think we need to do something about it immediately.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mr Marshall raised questions over the state\u2019s water pipe maintenance program.<\/p>\n
\u201cAre they doing preventative maintenance like we would do in the commercial sector, or are they just doing breakdown maintenance?\u201d he asked.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe fact that they haven\u2019t said anything suggests to me that we\u2019ve just got breakdown maintenance on our pipes here in South Australia.<\/p>\n
\u201cQuite frankly that\u2019s just not good enough. We\u2019re wasting a huge amount of water.\u201d<\/p>\n
