It\u2019s posturing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat they want us to do is lower standards, and we\u2019re not going to let them off having a working with children check and all the other basic checks that are necessary to ensure that people can safely use public transport.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey\u2019ll take advantage of the deregulation that we\u2019ve put in place to allow ride sharing to come into South Australia, or one of their competitors will come in,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<h3>LISTEN TO JAY WEATHERILL HERE:<\/h3>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" frameborder=\"no\" height=\"166\" scrolling=\"no\" src=\"https:\/\/w.soundcloud.com\/player\/?url=https%3A\/\/api.soundcloud.com\/tracks\/262531730&amp;color=ff5500&amp;auto_play=false&amp;hide_related=false&amp;show_comments=true&amp;show_user=true&amp;show_reposts=false\" width=\"100%\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Mr Weatherill said during negotiations as recent as Wednesday, Uber had stated it would start operating in SA on 1 July.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cObviously they\u2019re trying to put a bit of pressure on us publicly by having a splash in the paper, but that won\u2019t work.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a company that wants to work us over publicly, and we\u2019re not going to participate.
