{"id":32145,"date":"2016-04-28T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2016-04-28T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cms.fiveaa.com.au\/uncategorized\/leigh-matthews-disagrees-with-mick-malthouse-s-comments-2\/"},"modified":"2016-04-28T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2016-04-28T00:00:00","slug":"leigh-matthews-disagrees-with-mick-malthouse-s-comments-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cms.fiveaa.com.au\/show\/leigh-matthews-disagrees-with-mick-malthouse-s-comments-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Leigh Matthews disagrees with Mick Malthouse\u2019s \u201cludicrous\u201d comments"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Leigh Matthews says he can&#8217;t understand comments made by Mick Malthouse that the two-week suspension handed to Tiger defender Alex Rance for striking was \u201cludicrous\u201d.<\/h3>\n<p>Rance was suspended for two weeks after he struck Demon Jack Watts in the head, but Malthouse says the penalty was \u201cover the top\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn my book that is nowhere near a two-week suspension,\u201d Malthouse said on Melbourne radio station SEN. \u201cWhen we start judging what\u2019s good and bad for the game instead of looking at the incident\u2026 I think Rance is really stiff to get those two weeks.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>WATCH THE RANCE INCIDENT HERE:<\/h3>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-video\" data-lang=\"en\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Alex Rance has been reported following this incident with Jack Watts <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/AFLDeesTigers?src=hash\">#AFLDeesTigers<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/JqS5ngGcbg\">https:\/\/t.co\/JqS5ngGcbg<\/a><\/p>&mdash; AFL (@AFL) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AFL\/status\/724203077683671042\">April 24, 2016<\/a><\/blockquote>&#13;\n<script async src=\"\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>But Matthews was adamant Rance had to be suspended.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI couldn\u2019t quite work out where Mick was coming from,\u201d Leigh told Rowey and Bicks on FIVEAA. \u201cThat you can have a reportable offence and say, \u2018oh no, he\u2019s got a pretty good record so we wont charge him.\u2019 They can\u2019t do that.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Leigh said the situation was \u201cpretty simple\u201d given that Rance\u2019s contact was both high and deliberate.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo it wasn\u2019t accidental, it was deliberate. So clearly then all of a sudden you\u2019re guilty of an offence and whether you get one week or two weeks is relatively incidental for me.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou do the crime you do the time.
