It\u2019s a long time ago, but I\u2019ll still never get over it,\u201d Leigh told Rowey and Bicks on FIVEAA. \u201cI\u2019ve got a chip on my shoulder that\u2019s gigantic.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Both Port Adelaide and Brisbane earned home prelim finals at the end of the 2004 season, but because of an AFL deal with the MCC, the Lions had to play in Melbourne.<\/p>\n<p>Matthews has previously revealed that he felt like \u201cpunching\u201d then AFL CEO Andrew Demetriou after the Lions went down to Port Adelaide in the GF.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We had a chance to do something unbelievably special and external forces intervened to make our task harder,&#8221; Matthews said in his 2013 book, Accept The Challenge. &#8220;Do I feel we were dudded by the schedule? Well, yes, I do.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\u201c&#8221;In my mind the AFL denied us our best shot at winning a historic fourth consecutive premiership.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday Leigh said he would never get over it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou can\u2019t beat city hall,\u201d he joked.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey told us to get [nicked]. They didn\u2019t say it in those words.
