\u201cA little bit of mutual respect from cyclists towards cars and pedestrians, and cars towards cyclists would go a long way to solving these problems,\u201d Mr Weatherill told David and Will on FIVEAA breakfast.<\/p>\n
Mr Weatherill was commenting on the serious injuries suffered by a young woman when she was struck on a footpath by a cyclist<\/a> travelling at about 40km\/h.<\/p>\n \u201cThat\u2019s ridiculous and that sort of thing shouldn\u2019t happen,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n \u201cObviously we need to make sure those sorts of things don\u2019t occur. The whole purpose of the footpath law is to simply improve safety, so we don\u2019t want to make it worse for other people by doing that. <\/p>\n \u201cThere are no easy solutions here, we\u2019ve just got to make sure we get the right balance.\u201d<\/p>\nLISTEN TO PREMIER JAY WEATHERILL HERE:<\/h3>\n
