Adelaide Crows midfielder Scott Thompson has been added to the list of current players given AFL life membership \u2013 but when asked about it on FIVEAA, it was news to Thompson!<\/h3>\n

\u201cI hadn\u2019t actually been told that myself yet,\u201d Thompson told the FIVEAA sports show on Friday. \u201cIf that\u2019s the case, I\u2019m certainly quite happy and honoured to be part of that group.\u201d<\/p>\n

Thompson was part of a group of current players to be awarded life membership, including Shaun Burgoyne, Sam Mitchell, James Kelly, Brendon Goddard, Robert Murphy and Drew Petrie.<\/p>\n

Thompson played 39 games in his first four years at Melbourne, and 256 with Adelaide over the next 11 years.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s certainly been an enjoyable time at the Adelaide footy club,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve been close a couple of times and around the mark, which has been frustrating at times not to get to the last dance.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut I think we\u2019ve got a group that hopefully in the coming years is capable of creating something special.\u201d<\/p>\n
