\u201cTrying to let it play out was the tricky thing,\u201d Graham told Rowey and Bicks on FIVEAA.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was the final stage of his selection process, nobody knew how that was going to play out, and then people are breaking news stories before there\u2019s any official announcements.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThat was the tense part, as to whether that would impact on his chances of final selection.\u201d<\/p>\n
Graham said when Kane finally received his letter of acceptance into the Metro Fire Service, \u201cthere was a definite sigh of relief\u201d.<\/p>\n
He only had one piece of advice before his son fronted teammates to announce he was retiring: \u201cI said do not cry.\u201d<\/p>\n
