{"id":33074,"date":"2015-05-18T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2015-05-18T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cms.fiveaa.com.au\/uncategorized\/kids-of-working-mums-do-better\/"},"modified":"2015-05-18T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2015-05-18T00:00:00","slug":"kids-of-working-mums-do-better","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cms.fiveaa.com.au\/show\/will-goodings\/kids-of-working-mums-do-better\/","title":{"rendered":"Kids of working mums do better"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>A new Harvard study reveals some interesting insights about the children of working mothers.<\/h3>\n<p>The study found differing results for sons and daughters of employed women, reports <a href=\"https:\/\/www.smh.com.au\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Sydney Morning Herald<\/a>, but both were positive.<\/p>\n<p>Researchers found that the daughters of working mothers completed more years of formal education and were more likely to be employed in senior roles with higher incomes.<\/p>\n<p>Having a working mother did not affect the careers of sons, but they spent more time looking after children and doing housework, according to the research.<\/p>\n<p>The study included&nbsp;the experiences of more than 50,000 adults from 25 developed counties.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>69 per cent of women with a working mum were employed and 22 per cent were supervisors, compared with 66 per cent and 18 per cent for women raised by stay-at-home mums.<\/p>\n<p>The daughters of working mothers earned 6 per cent more than those whose mothers did not work outside the home.<\/p>\n<p>Sons of working mothers spent an extra hour caring for children each week than sons of stay-at-home mothers and they devoted an additional 17 minutes per week to housework.<\/p>\n<p>Australia was ranked in the middle on attitudes to gender, with Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden among the most egalitarian and Chile, Mexico, the Philippines and Russia the most conservative.<\/p>\n<p><strong>SEE ALSO: <a href=\"https:\/\/cms.fiveaa.com.au\/shows\/david-mark-jane\/adelaide-s-extremist-nonsense\">ADELAIDE&#8217;S EXTREMIST NONSENSE &#8211; PENBO<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>SEE ALSO: <a href=\"https:\/\/cms.fiveaa.com.au\/news\/dog-s-reaction-unbelievable\">THIS DOG&#8217;S REACTION IS INCREDIBLE<\/a><\/strong><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A new Harvard study reveals some interesting insights about the children of working mothers.
