Speaking on Fox Footy\u2019s AFL 360 program, Herald Sun chief football writer Mark Robinson made claims about besieged Carlton coach Mick Malthouse that raised a few eyebrows.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve got a coach who doesn\u2019t want to walk, and we\u2019ve got a club who doesn\u2019t want to sack him,\u201d Robinson said.<\/p>\n
He also claimed \u201cMick believes that he\u2019s gone\u201d and that when he encountered Mick, \u201cI saw a man who carried a sense of resignation in his body\u201d.<\/p>\n
Mick reacted to the comments by largely letting them slide.<\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t mind opinion,\u201d Mick told Rowey and Bicks on FIVEAA. \u201cThat\u2019s his opinion.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m a realist as far as football goes. But the thing is I also now that contracts run until 31 October.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mick said Carlton had said they would review his contract towards the end of the year, and he had \u201cno reason to doubt that\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt doesn\u2019t matter what part of the year it is, I and my match committee will fight every game to get the best out of our blokes.\u201d<\/p>\n
But Mick admitted to concealing his disappointment at times.<\/p>\n
\u201cI make a point of making sure my players never read the true mood of what you are.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey\u2019ve got to believe that the coach thinks we can win the next week. It is a veneer you\u2019ve got to come up with.\u201d<\/p>\n
