Traffic returning to Adelaide from the Yorke Peninsula after the long weekend is notoriously congested every year.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve lived up here for 28-odd years and nothing’s changed. It\u2019s only getting worse,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Mr Winkler said he\u2019d heard stories of people walking to Port Wakefield in less time than it takes in a car.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a bit of a joke. They\u2019ve got to do something about this.\u201d<\/p>\n
He rejected suggestions redirecting traffic would harm Port Wakefield.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think it\u2019s a bit of a furphy that the town will die.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cDublin never died, Two Wells never died, Virginia never died,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf people want to go there, they\u2019ll go there.\u201d<\/p>\n
He also called on the government to spend money on a regional road project.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019d like to see the Government put some of the $360 million they want to spend down south up north so that we can save four hours not four minutes.\u201d<\/p>\n
