After the Germanwings disaster, new Australian laws are aimed at keeping passengers safe.<\/h3>\n

The new laws require Australian airlines to have two people in commercial cockpits at all times.<\/p>\n

Neil Hansford from Strategic Aviation Solutions says the new laws are a good thing.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn this case I have to say that this is an industry\/government solution on a totally co-operative basis,\u201d he told Jeremy Cordeaux on FIVEAA.<\/p>\n

The changes come in the wake of the Germanwings disaster which is thought to have been deliberately crashed by a suicidal pilot.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou can\u2019t have the crew who are outside in a position where someone would take them hostage to get into door,\u201d Mr Hansford said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s better that the only people who can control the door are actually inside the cockpit.<\/p>\n

\u201cThen no matter what happens you\u2019ve still got people who can control the aircraft,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
