Barnaby Joyce says new rules will be approved by the end of March, meaning we\u2019re about to see a better style of label on our food products.<\/h3>\n

\u201cIt will be diagrammatic, it will reflect proportionality \u2013 the proportion of a fundamental ingredient,\u201d Mr. Joyce told Leon Byner on FIVEAA. <\/p>\n

He said the new labeling rules would remove the \u201cweasel words and mischievous process that we currently have in place\u201d.<\/p>\n

Currently, products that claim to be Australian made might still be made with imported ingredients or were only packaged in Australia.<\/p>\n

\u201cYes, there are people who can\u2019t stand the idea\u2026 we\u2019re going to run over the top of them,\u201d Mr. Joyce said.<\/p>\n

He said the new labels will compulsory and will help consumers purchase products that are underpinned by Australia\u2019s standards of hygiene, health and safety, and labour rates, as well as making it easier to support local farmers.<\/p>\n
