\u201cYou\u2019ve got to still have a growing economy if you want to actually balance your books,\u201d Mr. Weatherill told David, Mark and Jane on FIVEAA breakfast.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe said when we went to the election we\u2019d keep building South Australia. We did nail our colours to the mast about this.\u201d<\/p>\n
He said Adelaide Oval was an example of how important it is to invest in the state.<\/p>\n
\u201cMost people would\u2019ve thought, well, is that something we can really afford? Now most people would be saying how can we afford to not make that expenditure.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe amount of economic activity the new Adelaide Oval has developed, its utterly changed the winter economy of the state,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Mr. Weatherill said the government had put $180 million into the precinct, which would leverage about another billion dollars in investment from the private sector.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat wouldn\u2019t have happened if you didn\u2019t have the anchor of the Adelaide Oval there,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
