Power coach Ken Hinkley talks all things Port Adelaide in a wide-ranging interview on FIVEAA.<\/h3>\n

Ken Hinkley admits his team has had a few \u201chiccups\u201d during the preseason. \u201cJanuary\u2019s a really tough time and we work them incredibly hard,\u201d he told Rowey and Bicks.<\/p>\n

On Wingard\u2019s injury:<\/strong>

\n\tChad Wingard has had surgery on his knee, so that puts him in \u201csome doubt\u201d to be ready by round one if everything doesn\u2019t go right, said Hinkley.<\/p>\n

On the Essendon saga:<\/strong>

\n\t\u201cIt\u2019s not one we can control. We\u2019re sitting there thinking, \u2018What\u2019s going to happen, when\u2019s it going to happen.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen Paddy (Ryder) becomes available to our team, which we hope is round one, he\u2019s going to significantly improve us. What we don\u2019t know is when that exact starting date is going to be.\u201d<\/p>\n

On possible early pleas:<\/strong>

\n\t\u201cThe facts are there\u2019s nothing there for the boys to consider.\u201d<\/p>\n

On his game plan:<\/strong>

\n\tHinkley said the Power\u2019s game style stands up, its defence stands up and \u201cour offense is pretty exciting when it\u2019s going\u201d. Five per cent is reacting to what the competition is doing, and \u201c95% is about how we do it\u201d.<\/p>\n

On winning big moments:<\/strong>

\n\t\u201cA big moment to me can be a good spoil, a good punch that stops the ball dead. Don\u2019t get that right and it can be a two goal swing.\u201d<\/p>\n

On Justin Westhoff:<\/strong>

\n\t\u201cWe use Westy everywhere and anywhere\u2026 he\u2019s that type of player. Any freedom we get with Westy is something I\u2019m really looking forward to being able to use.\u201d<\/p>\n

On expectations:<\/strong>

\n\t\u201cI don\u2019t worry about external expectation, I worry about internal expectation. We have a belief that if we work hard enough and prepare ourselves as well as we can, we\u2019ll give ourselves a chance to have another successful season.\u201d<\/p>\n

On Michael Voss:<\/strong>

\n\t\u201cI get to call on his experience of situations that he may have handled that I haven\u2019t seen yet. He was the best captain I think I\u2019ve seen this century. I think Voss was an incredible captain.\u201d<\/p>\n

On coaching against Phil Walsh:<\/strong>

\n\t\u201cIt\u2019ll be exciting to be honest. Phil will know a lot about us; we\u2019ll know a lot about how Phil thinks.\u201d<\/p>\n
