Madeleine went missing shortly before her fourth birthday while her parents were eating dinner with friends in in Portugal in May 2007.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Authorities in Germany are currently investigating suspect Christian Brueckner, a 43-year-old convicted sex offender, over the disappearance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to 7 News, prosecutor Hans Christian Walters has told overseas media outlets:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe have written to the McCanns to tell them Madeleine is dead and explaining we just cannot say what the evidence is,\u201d he said, reported The Sun.<\/p>
\u201cWe have concrete evidence that our suspect has killed Madeleine.<\/p>
\u201cThe results of our investigation have been shared but not every detail has been passed to Scotland Yard.\u201d<\/p>
\u201cWe, of course, really consider the fact that it is going to be very hard for the family when we tell them we assume Madeline is dead,\u201d he told The Mirror.<\/p>
\u201cBut we can\u2019t say why she is dead.<\/p>
\u201cIt is more important that we are successful and we are able to get the culprit, as opposed to just putting our cards on the table and tell them why we think she might be.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
