A number of party members say the plan to hold a Liberal women\u2019s council function on Thursday night sends \u201cmixed signals\u201d at a time when COVID restrictions are being reintroduced on other gatherings, reports FIVEAA Breakfast\u2019s David Penberthy.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Penbo said during Thursday\u2019s Breaking @ 8 segment that – \u201cdepending who you talk to\u201d – between 350 and 700 people were expected to attend the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTwo things that I have been hearing quite strongly in the last half hour,\u201d Penbo said, \u201c\u2026 there\u2019s a large group of party members who are now planning to boycott tonight\u2019s dinner on the basis that they think it sends mixed signals at a time when restrictions on gathering of more than one hundred for weddings have been reintroduced, limits on numbers at funerals and also limits on gatherings in family homes.<\/p>

\u201cThere\u2019s also speculation as to whether it will go ahead at all\u2026<\/p>

\u201cI would\u2019ve thought that based on Steven Marshall\u2019s very sound ability to read the tea leaves and sniff the breeze on things like bus stop closures and outrage from the public over travel allowance scandals, that he might have some thoughts on this and he may well use his authority to make some sort of a decision as to whether it goes ahead or not.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
