David Penberthy and Will Goodings say the hassling of station staff is something \u201cwe will not tolerate\u201d after Premier Steven Marshall gave a FIVEAA Breakfast producer \u201ca serve\u201d over coverage of a Liberal Party Women\u2019s Council event this week<\/a>.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Penbo said during Friday\u2019s show:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe Premier Steven Marshall is deeply unhappy with the manner in which I and our station and also The Australian newspaper has covered this issue of the Liberal Women\u2019s Council meeting last night<\/a>.<\/p>

\u201cWe did not set out to denounce this event. I did not even know it was happening until I started getting calls about it on Tuesday. We aren\u2019t the ones who described the event as quote \u2018insane\u2019. We aren\u2019t the ones who described it as inappropriate. We aren\u2019t the ones who said that it sent mixed messages. The people who said these things are members of the Liberal Party. Some of them are Liberal members of parliament. They are the people that we spoke to when we were doing the story that was presented to us. It wasn\u2019t something we were chasing.<\/p>

\u201cThis morning the Premier rang our producer Andy Ruzgar and gave him a serve about it. I think the Premier, rather than hassling our staff – which is something we will not tolerate – if he wants to hassle anyone about it he should hassle the people within the Liberal Party who are putting this about as a story\u2026 If they can\u2019t manage their internal politics that\u2019s a problem for the Liberal Party and it\u2019s a problem for the Premier. It\u2019s not our problem. They\u2019ve got to fix that. Don\u2019t hassle our staff.\u201d<\/p>

WILL<\/strong>: \u201cBrowbeating the media when you\u2019ve got internal political party problems is not a strategy, it\u2019s a cop out\u2026 so irresponsible was the coverage that what we gave the health minister an opportunity to explain it in clear language, which he did, and subsequent to that there\u2019s an abusive phone call. I think there might be some people on the other side of the party that might require some incoming phone calls. But that can be tough to do.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
