{"id":47849,"date":"2020-12-09T08:44:42","date_gmt":"2020-12-08T22:14:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cms.fiveaa.com.au\/?p=47849"},"modified":"2020-12-09T08:45:38","modified_gmt":"2020-12-08T22:15:38","slug":"police-commissioner-addresses-reports-of-a-dispute-with-professor-nicola-spurrier","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cms.fiveaa.com.au\/news\/police-commissioner-addresses-reports-of-a-dispute-with-professor-nicola-spurrier\/","title":{"rendered":"Police Commissioner Addresses Reports Of A Dispute With Professor Nicola Spurrier"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Police Commissioner Grant Stevens says reports of a dispute between him and the state\u2019s chief medical officer Nicola Spurrier were \u201ca little bit conflated\u201d and that the pair have an \u201cexcellent working relationship\u201d.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Reports of a dispute emerged last week after the commissioner overrode official health advice and reduced the physical distancing rules inside hospitality venues down from one person per four square metres to one person per two square metres.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Commissioner Stevens told FIVEAA Breakfast\u2019s David &amp; Will on Wednesday:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>\u201cGiven the economic impact, the social dimension and how we were going with the Parafield cluster I thought it t was step we should take, knowing there was an element of risk with that, but so far so good\u2026<\/p><p>\u201cThe previous discussion about disputes between Professor Spurrier &#8211; it was probably a little bit conflated in the media that there is this disconnect or dispute or the cracks are starting to show.<\/p><p>\u201cI just want to reassure everybody that the relationship between Health and SA Police wasn\u2019t one we ever envisaged would be so close but it is an excellent working relationship. It is a respectful approach.
