People of a certain age – i.e. me – will remember a joint called the Toucan in Hindley St in the 1970s. For the past 20 years it’s been known as Jive.

“This joint is doing it extremely tough. For the past few months there’s been a herculean effort to raise money – they’ve raised about $60,000 so far. They’re having a massive event next Monday January 25th … it’s a remote event. It’s called JIVEaoke… they’re getting some of the biggest names from Adelaide’s local music scene to perform online.

“If you want to get on board and support them just go to the Jive website to check it out. It’s a bit of a symbol of a border concern here in the music industry that if places live Jive and all these other venues, if they don’t get a decent kick out of what is normally Mad March things could look pretty bleak.
