Cricket Australia has dropped all references to Australia Day for three Big Bash matches played on January 26 but says it won\u2019t force individual clubs to do the same.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
CA\u2019s Adam Cassidy has told News Corp<\/a>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cEven referencing it as January 26, you\u2019ll see in CA marketing collateral, we\u2019ll reference it as that, but that\u2019s not to say some clubs might still call it Australia Day. That\u2019s fine and that\u2019s their call.<\/p> \u201cAs a stretch reconciliation action plan organisation, we know we have a higher level of accountability to be leaders in this space. In many ways it forces our hand to be a bit braver in how we operate\u2026<\/p> \u201cPeople who have traditionally come to the cricket on that day and have had a ripping day shouldn\u2019t notice anything different. It\u2019s really the cohort of people who aren\u2019t comfortable with the day that we hope we\u2019ve made enough tweaks to make it a safe enough environment to also enjoy the day.<\/p> \u201cIt\u2019s not about changing the day for those who love it, it\u2019s about creating an environment others (can also enjoy).\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n Meanwhile PM Scott Morrison said he hoped CA paid to attention to some of the community backlash to the decision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI hope they listen to that, and I think they should,\u201d he said in comments made on QLD radio and reported by news.com.au<\/a>.<\/p> \u201cA bit more focus on cricket, a little less focus on politics would be my message to Cricket Australia.<\/p> \u201cI think that\u2019s pretty ordinary.
