But I don&#8217;t stop trying. Today, effective immediately, I step down as president of the Collingwood Football Club.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Eddie on his plans to stay until year&#8217;s end:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>&#8220;I don&#8217;t think that is now tenable or fair for the club or the community. I have become a lightning rod for vitriol and made it hard for the club to move forward with its plans.
