The premier has been promising he\u2019s looking at finding some new event or suite of events that are going to fill the void left by the scrapping of the Supercars. Our mail is that nothing is happening. There is absolutely nothing locked down that the premier had got up his sleeve to announce in the short term\u2026<\/p><p>\u201cOur understanding from well placed sources within the tourism industry \u2013 I find this totally bizarre \u2013 is as of today there is a whole group of staff at Events SA who are being stood down, their contracts are being cancelled even though these people have got vast experience in staging events.<\/p><p>\u201cWe\u2019ve been told that all but three of the staff are going and that there are about 13 staff in total that were originally moved from the motorsport board to Events SA by the government some years ago to look after the day to day operation of all of these events\u2026 why wouldn\u2019t you keep these people on and try to use their experience and their contacts to help the state find a new event? What you could call the avoidable dismissal of these people strikes me as completely stupid.\u201d<\/p><p>WILL: \u201cDoesn\u2019t make you feel optimistic about the future of major events in SA if it\u2019s the Events SA people who are all getting the boot. Especially when the promise was in the absence of V8s\u2026 wait to see what we announce.
