{"id":54342,"date":"2021-05-31T13:29:04","date_gmt":"2021-05-31T03:59:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cms.fiveaa.com.au\/?p=54342"},"modified":"2021-05-31T13:29:06","modified_gmt":"2021-05-31T03:59:06","slug":"fight-brewing-over-what-to-do-with-martindale-hall","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cms.fiveaa.com.au\/news\/fight-brewing-over-what-to-do-with-martindale-hall\/","title":{"rendered":"Fight Brewing Over What To Do With Martindale Hall"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">SA\u2019s National Trust has issued a warning about a state government plan to scrap Martindale Hall\u2019s conservation listing \u2013 a claim the government says has \u201cno basis whatsoever\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/omny.fm\/shows\/david-and-will\/david-and-will-podcast-31-may-2021\/embed\" width=\"100%\" height=\"180\" frameborder=\"0\" title=\"David and Will podcast - 31 May 2021\"><\/iframe>\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">FIVEAA Breakfast\u2019s David Penberthy revealed during Monday\u2019s Breaking @ 8 segment:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>\u201cThere are now fresh development concerns\u2026 The National Trust is going to issue a statement today really firing up about the fact that the state government is proposing to scrap the Martindale Conservation Park listing which currently provides protection under the National Parks and Wildlife Act over any type of development at the site.<\/p><p>\u201cThe National Trust are deeply suspicious to say the least of this move\u2026\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However Environment Minister David Speirs has told FIVEAA the trust\u2019s suspicions have \u201cno basis whatsoever:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>\u201cThe National Trust want to take over Martindale Hall\u2026 that\u2019s a great thing but the trust that sits around that hall is an ancient, old trust \u2013 it lacks any form of flexibility.<\/p><p>\u201cThe National Trust proposal is ultimately illegal under that trust\u2026 we can\u2019t have the National Trust as a bid for this.
