{"id":79030,"date":"2022-09-23T07:34:16","date_gmt":"2022-09-22T22:04:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cms.fiveaa.com.au\/?p=79030"},"modified":"2022-09-23T07:34:18","modified_gmt":"2022-09-22T22:04:18","slug":"sapol-clocked-an-unlicensed-driver-allegedly-doing-180km-h-last-night","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cms.fiveaa.com.au\/news\/sapol-clocked-an-unlicensed-driver-allegedly-doing-180km-h-last-night\/","title":{"rendered":"SAPOL Clocked An Unlicensed Driver Allegedly Doing 180km\/h Last Night"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A man has been arrested following a pursuit at Smithfield last night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/omny.fm\/shows\/fiveaa-sports-show-with-rowey-bicks\/interview-caroline-wilson-21-september-2022\/embed\" allow=\"autoplay; clipboard-write\" width=\"100%\" height=\"180\" frameborder=\"0\" title=\"INTERVIEW: Caroline Wilson - 21 September 2022\"><\/iframe>\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to SAPOL:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>Just before 10.45pm on Thursday 23 September, police spotted a grey BMW sedan travelling at speed on Curtis Road.<\/p><p>Police kept observations of the vehicle and called for assistance from PolAir.<\/p><p>The car was followed towards Port Wakefield Road at Virginia and then to Mallala where it will be alleged the driver reached speeds of no less than 180km\/h on Port Wakefield Road.<\/p><p>Patrols attempted to stop the vehicle but the driver refused.<\/p><p>The vehicle was successfully spiked on Port Wakefield Road.<\/p><p>The car continued for a short time before coming to a stop on Port Wakefield Road, Lower light where the driver was arrested without incident.<\/p><p>Checks showed the vehicle was not stolen.<\/p><p>The driver, a 32-year-old Smithfield Plains man was charged with driving at an extreme speed, engaging in police pursuit and driving unlicenced.
