More info: <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/YZbjXCmbXb\">https:\/\/t.co\/YZbjXCmbXb<\/a> ID:342\/8<\/p>&mdash; SA SES (@SA_SES) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SA_SES\/status\/1575268883837030400?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">September 28, 2022<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">*<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>UPDATE \u2013 Thursday 29 September, 6:37am: <\/strong>The SES have been able to lower the level of a dam threatening to burst in Echunga and are working to get residents back into their homes as soon as possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to an update released on Thursday morning:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>SES crew, supported by Police and CFS, have worked throughout the night to lower the level of the dam using controlled pumping. This had to be done with care, to only release water at a rate that did not exceed the capacity of the drainage system of Echunga, otherwise this may have still caused parts of Echunga to flood.<\/p><p>SES have now been able to reduce the level of the water in the dam by over 2 metres and are consulting with engineers to understand what further works need to take place, and will provide updated information to the community later this morning.
