In the end it was the people who run the polo who went it sounds like it\u2019s going to be too difficult, let\u2019s can if for this year.<\/p><p>\u201cIn the councils defence they actually did give them alternatives.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">*<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">FIVEAA Breakfast\u2019s David Penberthy says the city council has decided a lucrative and long-time Adelaide event will not take place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>LISTEN HERE:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/omny.fm\/shows\/david-and-will\/major-city-event-not-happening-reports-penbo\/embed\" allow=\"autoplay; clipboard-write\" width=\"100%\" height=\"180\" frameborder=\"0\" title=\"Major City Event Not Happening, Reports Penbo\"><\/iframe>\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Penbo said during Thursday\u2019s Breaking @ 8 segment:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>\u201cWe can reveal there is another major event in Adelaide that is not going ahead on account of the council and that is the national polo championships\u2026 they\u2019ve been operating in Victoria Park for 17 years.<\/p><p>\u201cBecause of COVID they haven\u2019t gone ahead for the last couple of years\u2026 it actually brings a hell of a lot of money into the local economy\u2026<\/p><p>\u201cThe City Council, with the mere shrug of a shoulder, has told the organisers \u2013 this has only happened in the last day or so \u2013 they\u2019ve said it\u2019s all too hard because we\u2019ve got the V8 race, so you\u2019re not allowed to use Victoria Park\u2026<\/p><p>\u201cThe most pathetic part of the council\u2019s thinking is they\u2019ve said because of the V8s they\u2019re unable to find any other inner-city location where an outdoor horseback event could be held\u2026 you know how big the Adelaide parklands are? 760 hectares.<\/p><p>\u201cWe are the only major city in Australia that\u2019s not taking part now in this event.
