{"id":82680,"date":"2022-11-29T07:06:31","date_gmt":"2022-11-28T20:36:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cms.fiveaa.com.au\/?p=82680"},"modified":"2022-11-29T07:06:34","modified_gmt":"2022-11-28T20:36:34","slug":"adelaide-man-arrested-more-than-30-years-after-assault-following-dna-match","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cms.fiveaa.com.au\/news\/adelaide-man-arrested-more-than-30-years-after-assault-following-dna-match\/","title":{"rendered":"Adelaide Man Arrested More Than 30 Years After Assault Following DNA Match"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A man has been arrested after a DNA match linked him to a sexual assault more than 30 years ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/omny.fm\/shows\/fiveaa-sports-show-with-rowey-bicks\/interview-mark-bickley-28-november-2022\/embed\" allow=\"autoplay; clipboard-write\" width=\"100%\" height=\"180\" frameborder=\"0\" title=\"INTERVIEW: Mark Bickley - 28 November 2022\"><\/iframe>\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to SAPOL:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>Police will allege that about 5am on 29 August 1988, a woman was jogging on Torrens Road at Croydon when she was threatened by a man armed with a knife, then dragged to a car and driven to a nearby location where the man sexually assaulted her.<\/p><p>The woman managed to escape and sought assistance from a member of the public.<\/p><p>Forensic evidence seized at the time of the assault led to the arrest of a 62-year-old Paralowie man on Friday 25 November.<\/p><p>He was charged with rape and was bailed to appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court on 5 January 2023.<\/p><p>Detective Chief Inspector Richard Lambert of the Special Crimes Investigation Section says: <\/p><p>\u201cDNA technology has provided police with increased opportunities to identify people who are responsible for committing all types of crimes. This investigation demonstrates SAPOL\u2019s commitment to pursue those responsible for committing sexual assaults, including those that have occurred many years ago. The impact of these types of crimes have on their victims is everlasting, and SAPOL recognises the importance of exploring all lines of investigation to solve these crimes.
