{"id":8968,"date":"2019-08-11T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2019-08-11T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cms.fiveaa.com.au\/uncategorized\/police-still-working-to-recover-the-bodies-of-two-climbers-in-sa-s-north\/"},"modified":"2019-08-11T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2019-08-11T00:00:00","slug":"police-still-working-to-recover-the-bodies-of-two-climbers-in-sa-s-north","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cms.fiveaa.com.au\/news\/police-still-working-to-recover-the-bodies-of-two-climbers-in-sa-s-north\/","title":{"rendered":"Police Still Working To Recover The Bodies Of Two Climbers In SA\u2019s North"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>STAR Ops officers were due to arrive in Wilpena Pound on Monday morning to assist in the recovery of two bodies in a remote climbing area.<\/h3>\n<p>SAPOL advised late on Sunday night:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The bodies of two men have been located at Wilpena Pound, in the Flinders Ranges.<\/p>\n<p>The alarm was raised about 1.15pm on Sunday 11 August.<\/p>\n<p>Patrols and emergency services made their way to the location at the Moonarie Climbing Area, which is extremely remote and in inaccessible terrain.<\/p>\n<p>Sadly, a 62-year-old man from Norwood and a 44-year-old man from Fairview Park were located deceased at the scene.<\/p>\n<p>The planning for the retrieval operation is its early stages.&nbsp; STAR Operations are expected to fly to the region tomorrow morning where they will be assisted in the recovery by local patrols and SES volunteers.<\/p>\n<p>Police and CIB detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the men&#8217;s deaths and will prepare a report for the coroner.<\/p>\n<p>The families of the deceased have requested privacy at this time.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The bodies of two men, aged 62 and 44, were located at Wilpena Pound, in the Flinders Ranges. this afternoon.
