According to the bureau\u2019s Dr Andrew Watkins, the state\u2019s autumn conditions are likely to carry through into winter:<\/p>\n
\u201cAutumn has been very warm and also dry for South Australia. It\u2019s looking like one of the top ten warmest autumns on record in terms of maximum temperatures across the state. In terms of rainfall, certainly very dry in many areas, particularly in the agricultural parts of southeastern South Australia –very warm March, April and May and very dry March, April and May as well.<\/p>\n
\u201c[This winter] the day times are likely to continue with the warmer than average conditions right across much of the state\u2026 we\u2019re likely to have higher pressures over parts of the south east as well\u2026 so that frost risk is raised.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn terms of rainfall we\u2019re looking at drier than average conditions through large parts of the southern parts of the state, particularly into those south east agricultural areas. Further north a little bit of a swing back towards average — not exceptionally wet or exceptionally dry.<\/p>\n
\u201cAt the moment we\u2019ve got some fairly cool sea surface temperatures off Western Australia\u2026 that typically puts higher pressures over much of South Australia and that\u2019s leading to the drier outlook in the south east, some warmer conditions during the day but in land possibly some cooler nights.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n
