And today\u2019s need? It\u2019s life saving.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/omny.fm\/shows\/david-and-will\/penbo-fires-up-over-australia-day-council-move\/embed\" allow=\"autoplay; clipboard-write\" width=\"100%\" height=\"180\" frameborder=\"0\" title=\"Penbo Fires Up Over Australia Day Council Move\"><\/iframe>\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Australian Red Cross, under\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.lifeblood.com.au\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Lifeblood<\/a>, is in a race against time to find blood donors who match a South Australia woman named Amira.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The mother-of-two is battling a critical medical condition and needs to have open-heart surgery. There\u2019s one problem \u2013\u00a0Amria has a very rare blood type and needs at least 20 units of the red stuff before, during and after the procedure.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s a challenging task for\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.lifeblood.com.au\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Lifeblood\u00a0<\/a>because only one in 10,000 people could potentially be a match for Amira.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So, how can you help?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Aussies who have O or A blood types are being asked to roll up their sleeves (even if you don\u2019t have these types, Lifeblood is always in need of donations) and see if they\u2019re a perfect match for the mum.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The medical team looking after Amira has been forced to look outside of Australia to try and find a match but say they\u2019re still looking for at least 15 donors with the same unique blood type.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you think you may be able to help, you can contact Lifeblood on 13 14 95 or\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.lifeblood.com.au\/blood\/making-your-donation?gad=1&amp;gclid=Cj0KCQjwiIOmBhDjARIsAP6YhSX4DGppIr2i_DwvwGtvURNhaUob4pPIxAq1773kcoTrvLKaeddvPBQaAnL1EALw_wcB&amp;gclsrc=aw.ds\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">make a booking here.<\/a>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Image | Getty<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Abbey Smith, 23 July 2023 If there\u2019s one thing Aussies do well, it\u2019s helping out fellow Aussies in their time of need.
