{"id":9428,"date":"2019-05-06T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2019-05-06T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cms.fiveaa.com.au\/uncategorized\/labor-has-announced-hundreds-of-millions-for-sa-s-health-system\/"},"modified":"2019-05-06T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2019-05-06T00:00:00","slug":"labor-has-announced-hundreds-of-millions-for-sa-s-health-system","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cms.fiveaa.com.au\/news\/labor-has-announced-hundreds-of-millions-for-sa-s-health-system\/","title":{"rendered":"Labor Has Announced Hundreds Of Millions For SA\u2019s Health System"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Federal Labor has announced it will spend hundreds of millions of dollars to upgrade the state\u2019s health system if elected at the upcoming election.<\/h3>\n<p>According to an announcement on Monday, Labor will spend $28.6 million on Adelaide\u2019s southern subrubs and the Adelaide Hills, as well $35 million on the Repat Hospital and many millions more on cutting ED waiting times, elective surgery waiting times and a Medicare Cancer Plan.<\/p>\n<p>From Labor:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>As part of&nbsp;<strong>$28.6 million package aimed at supporting the Southern Suburbs and the Adelaide Hills<\/strong>, a Shorten Labor Government will invest:<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8211; $15.4 million<\/strong>&nbsp;to expand the Flinders Medical Centre Emergency Department &#8211; ensuring patients can have access to care when they need it most.<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8211; $8.6 million<\/strong>&nbsp;to build a new Emergency Department at Mount Barker Hospital.<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8211; $4.6 million<\/strong>&nbsp;to expand the Noarlunga Hospital &#8211; increasing the services available to residents in Adelaide\u2019s Southern Suburbs.<\/p>\n<p>Labor will also provide $5 million for a&nbsp;<strong>Veterans\u2019 Hub&nbsp;<\/strong>in the electorate of Boothby to provide critical health and support services to our veterans and ex-service personnel.<br><br \/>\n\t\t&nbsp;<br><br \/>\n\t\tIn addition, Labor will&nbsp;<strong>invest in better health care for South Australia&nbsp;<\/strong>with:<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; $35 million for the Repatriation General Hospital, including: $30 million for the Spinal and Brain Unit and $5 million for the Eating Disorder Unit.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; An estimated $35 million to blitz emergency department waiting times.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; An estimated $16 million to blitz elective surgery waiting times.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; An estimated $35 million to tackling cancer through our Medicare Cancer Plan.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; $2.5 million for a new Clinical Simulation Lab for Flinders University, providing a new state-of-the-art clinical simulation equipment to improve training outcomes and ensure health professionals start their placements with well-developed practical skills.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; A new, full&nbsp;<em>headspace<\/em>&nbsp;centre in Boothby to deliver early intervention mental health services for those aged 12 to 25 years.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; $10 million to support the Jodi Lee Foundation run a national awareness campaign to increase bowel cancer testing rates.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;
