The Advertiser reports that last week the US Food and Drug Administration issued a warning about foods made with liquid nitrogen \u2018at the point of consumption\u2019.<\/p>\n
According to the paper, others urging caution include:<\/p>\n
* Joyce Haddad from Flinders Uni says \u201cthe cold temperatures of this chemical can cause serious injury including serious cold burns\u2026 and may also cause breathing difficulty\u201d.<\/p>\n
* Joanne Cammans from SA Health says liquid nitrogen \u201cwas non-toxic when used correctly, however it can cause severe damage to the skin and internal organs\u2026 if ingested or handled the wrong way.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWe would advise people with asthma avoid eating anything that comes in gas form, as it may exacerbate the symptoms,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
Stall holder Georgia Miller says the food is \u201c100 per cent safe\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cI shake the cup upside down with a spoon that has holes in it to make sure that if it does have any liquid it comes down and out of the spoon. What\u2019s left is the vapour and the vapours are not harmful,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n
